I’m honoured to have Victor Mugabe as the first interviewee on Bloggers Excel and I’m too excited to share what an amazingly talented person he is! Victor is not just a successful blogger but an inspirational star. He desires to see his blog inspire more people to love their origins and learn more about their ancestral background. 

Can you please tell readers about yourself and your blog?

I am Mugabe Victor. I am a civil engineer, artist and writer. I go by Victor The Muchwezi in some articles, and I love karaoke and rhyming words.

Describe how did you first get into blogging?

 I started as a comic book artist a few years after high school. I wrote and drew for the comic book Brain Bro, which I managed to push for three issues. I took a few years off to concentrate on the engineering sector of my life. I found myself heavy hearted without doing my passion. It’s when I decided to start writing, and I’ve never stopped since. The idea of blogging came as I tried to work on my current novel. I had so many ideas for short stories which were unconnected to the main story. Blogging was the perfect outlet for these short stories.

Can you tell me some of your strengths that helped you in blogging?

I consider myself to be eccentric when it comes to creative projects. I am always willing to do something new and experiment with new concepts. I am able to synchronise poetry with writing and enjoy squeezing emotions from readers.

How do you want to improve yourself in the next month?

I want to incorporate my local language in my writings to give them a unique local touch that can separate it from the rest of the works I have read.

What do you think is the best service a blogger can provide to his readers?

The best service a blogger can provide is to help the reader escape their reality for as long as they desire.

What as the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?

I had tests piled up in one week and had to release a story. Then my laptop crashed as I tried to make finishing touches. The story never made it until the next week.

Who has impacted you most in blogging, and how?

Roland Byagaba, he is one of the creators of Muwado, where I post most of my work. I love his articles.

What do you do in your spare time?

I like to hang out with my friends during my spare time, watch anime, and play video games.

How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?

I have a supportive group of friends who keep reminding me that they want to know what happens next in my stories. I do not wish to disappoint them.

What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?

Internet being a scarce resource in my country, I spend a lot of time and money to get it.

In the future, where do you hope your blog will take you?

I hope my blog will give me the spotlight I need to inspire more people to love their origins and learn more about their ancestral background.

Do you have specific goals for the rest of the year?

I would love to learn how to make animatics. It would be a fantastic addition to most of the stories.

Did you have any professional help, or did you create the blog yourself?

I learnt most of what I have done via the internet.

What do you think is the best social media strategy for getting more visitors to a blog?

Pictures and videos. Most of my stories get the most attention when escorted with an eye-catching image or video.

Lastly is there anything you would like us to know about you?

I am a perfectionist. Though sometimes a weakness, I also acknowledge that it is one of my strengths.
